Darren Aronofsky(Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Black Swan) has been chosen to direct the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Now I don’t know about you but I find Darren Aronofsky to be a great visual storyteller and The Fountain still remains to be one of my favorite films period. And it’s even more interesting to hear that he’s teaming up with his cinematographer Matthew Libatique once again to continue Logan’s story as he travels to Japan to face off against foes like The Silver Samurai and the Oyabun family. Here’s a video with Darren Aronofsky talking about his thoughts on why he was chosen to direct a big action movie like this.
So this movie isn’t really a direct sequel to the first Wolverine movie(Thank God because I just want to forget what they did to Deadpool already!) and instead of being called Wolverine 2 or something, it’s being titled The Wolverine. I’m actually more excited for this one then the first Wolverine film because I know that Darren Aronofsky has worked with Hugh Jackman before(The Fountain) so they already understand each other’s creative input. Filming starts in April.
